'Home Among The Gumtrees' by Marley Alvarez

76.5 cm x 76.5 cm

Acrylic & oil pastel on canvas

This piece is an original created across 2025, for her solo exhibition I Can't Hear You.

Tucked in the hills of the Northern Rivers, Home Among The Gumtrees captures that deep, quiet comfort of being exactly where you're meant to be. There's something about the way the light filters through eucalyptus leaves, the hush between breezes, the smell of sun-warmed bark—it's peace, it's presence, it's home. This painting embodies the profound sense of belonging that comes from being surrounded by the Australian landscape, where the iconic gumtrees stand as silent witnesses to moments of stillness and connection.

Part of the I Can't Hear You collection, this work explores themes of home, belonging, and the deep connection between place and identity. Each piece in the exhibition invites viewers to find their own sense of home, whether in a physical place or a state of being.
