“The X-Ray Looked Like This” — when I made this painting, I’d just hurt my back in the surf. I went to the physio, and while he was working on it, explaining where I’d injured myself, I showed him this painting — the one I’d already named The X-Ray Looked Like This. He looked at it and was like, that’s crazy — this is pretty much exactly what your back looks like, and this is where you hurt it.
